What worked well?

The books were wonderful! The kids really enjoyed the sun observations, shadows markings and the night time journals. I loved the question board!

The sky observations really excited the students.

What problems did you have?

There was a typo on the sky assessment that needs to be changed. Ditto.
One of our parents complained about the cover of the night time journal saying that the moon/star clip art was a symbol of the Pakistan flag. Ditto.

Suprisingly, a few students drew people in their assessment of the day/night sky. With my exaggerated emphasis on saying sky over and over, most of the students caught on that there was not supposed to be people in their picture. For next year, I will talk more about this prior to the assessment.

Modifications? Suggestions? Changes?
We did not have each child draw around a partner in half day kdg because of time constraints. We took out a chair and traced the shadow at different times.

The managment of tracing a partner seemed daunting, so we traced a teacher instead. The students loved this!

Additional Lessons to be added?

We also turned off the lights and used a flashlight to represent the sun and then turned the globe to show the rotation of the earth and how the sun affects it. Then each child pretended to be the earth as I held the flashlight shining on them. They turned like the earth rotates.
